I believe most people have the natural desire to be happy and content in their world and are always trying to move in the direction of self-fulfillment.  Along with this natural inclination, I believe that everyone has the ability within themselves to make this move towards self-determination. But sometimes the way a person learned to view and operate in the world can make it difficult to reach this potential. By addressing a person’s core beliefs and values along with their attitudes and behaviors, a person can unlock the potential that’s within them to move toward self-actualization.

As your therapist, I will provide a safe place to discover a better understanding of yourself by using open-ended responses, reflective listening and tentative interpretations. This will allow the answers to emerge that are already within you, freeing up your ability to move towards your highest potential.

According to Carl Rogers, “Individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self-concepts, basic attitudes, and self-directed behavior; these resources can be tapped if a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided.” …This is my desire for you.

I received my bachelors of Social Work at UNCW in 1999, and my Masters of Social Work at ECU in 2000. I currently carry two licenses: an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist). I am also a CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor), offering supervision to others in the SA field.I have been practicing mental health and substance abuse for 15 years. I love helping people to identify that which is getting in the way of living their lives.
